Easter Week Day 1
I am so excited to do resurrection eggs (link) with the kids this Easter week. Our first two eggs were this morning. We talked about how Jesus rode into the crowds on a donkey, the people sang praises, and honored Him as the long awaited Messiah by laying down their cloaks and palm leaves before Him (Egg 1). But then we opened our second egg. Egg 2 is filled with coins. We talked about how not everyone loved Jesus. Judas chose to betray Him, for the love of money. Betray is a heavy word for 2 and 4 year olds! So we broke it down to a simple concept. Judas was unkind to Jesus. Judas hurt Jesus. Judas didn't love Jesus. But... Jesus loved Judas. Jesus knew that Judas would be unkind to him. And even if Judas was the only person left on earth.... it would not have changed the plan... Jesus would have still died, Jesus still gave him the choice of redemption. And that's what it comes down to. Our creator knew that we would turn against Him. He loved us so much that He gave us the choice to turn away. But He also gave us the way to come back to Him - and that's what this week is all about.
