I hate that I have failed to blog for so long. Just the other day my friend encouraged me to get back on it! So Chelsea… here it goes :-)
We are so thankful for a beautiful, healthy 8 week old boy (this week!), and a little girl who just turned four! We've moved in with my parents, and Ben and I are living in their camper trailer.
The Lord is certainly teaching us a lot during this season of our life. We are at 75% of our monthly ministry funding, and anticipating being on the field by this summer. Totally depending on the Lord to provide financial partners to come along side of us, has been a huge leap of faith and a lesson in humility daily!
But it has been this week that perhaps we have learned our greatest lesson on this new journey…. that this is God's journey with us. Things don't always go like we think they will. We can have a nice neat plan, and even convince ourself that God is going along with it, but when it comes right down to it we have no control!
We should have closed on our house this week. Everything had gone as planned (relatively). We were blown away 2 days ago when our contract fell through at the last minute. The buyers loan was denied - it was completely out of our hands. We were devastated. My first thoughts were, "why is God letting this happen to us? This wasn't the plan! Did He forget we gave this all up to be missionaries!!! Come on God, things are supposed to go right for us!". I was angry and hurt.
But as Ben and I prayed about it that night, sitting on the basement floor of my parents house, the Lord gave us such peace. He is faithful. He is constant. He will provide. No our plans are not His. And yes we were taken by surprise, but through it all He is faithful - He alone goes before us and will not forsake us.
What a great lesson to start learning now! As missionaries we will constantly be depending on God's faithfulness. We must learn to submit now to the small disappointments, and not be distracted by them. We must be strong and courageous. God's plans for us are far greater than anything we could even imagine and His faithfulness will never end!
Many of you pray for us daily. We invite you to begin praying now that God brings the right buyers to buy our home at the right time. He knows what we need, and He knows when and where He will have us serving Him. He has a plan far better than the one we had counted on!
