He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
Psalms 40:2
I thought of this verse today as I let my children have the time of their lives playing in a pool of mud. They splashed, threw mud, buried their faces in it, and practically drank it! But as the sun started to go behind the clouds, they got cold and all of a sudden 6 muddy, slimy hands were reaching up for me to hold. How must God see me sometimes, covered in mud, filthy from life. Yet just as a loving parent does, He lifts us up, mud, slim, and all, giving us a firm place to stand.

You had to pull this out after we left! What, you didn't want to send me home with my own 6 slimy hands? :) Looks like a good warm-up for the nature reserve next week!
