It's official! God has opened the door for us to minister at Fort Bragg! Fort Bragg is home to the 82nd Airborne, Special Operations Command Force, Joint Operations Command Force, and one of the largest dependent bases in the world. What an incredible opportunity to share Christ's love with so many youth!
How many times have I heard missionaries tell a story of God's direction or provision and think does that stuff really happen?
Let's be honest, it's crossed my mind! Well Fort Bragg is one of these cases. Actually over the past year, there have been many of those cases!
The Story of Bragg
I remember driving in the car last October, when Ben told me he "believed God was calling us to Fort Bragg". Me, being the realist, laughed and told him "I'd be shocked". There was already a missionary at Fort Bragg, and I was sure we'd end up in Alaska or somewhere crazy! But he was firm that God was burdening his heart for Fort Bragg; he felt we'd be there in some capacity, and we started praying about his burden.
Fast foward a few months, and we receive a completely unexpected call from our national director at Youth For Christ. There was a base opening up, they needed a missionary there by this summer, and they wanted to consider us for the base…… Fort Bragg.
It's so amazing to me when we are able to stand back and see what God has done! We see now, that over a year ago, God was already preparing our hearts for what he had next. Over a year ago, He knew there would be a huge need at Fort Bragg "someone" would need to fill.
Even though we've had a pretty good idea for a while now where God was leading us, we could not officially say. We needed to be at or above 80% of our funding before we could officially say where we were going. And the great news is we are at 81%! We are praying that we meet our goal by July, but we know that God will provide in His time as He has done all along.
